Gi Jiu Jitsu

Gi jiu jitsu is a traditional style of Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) that involves wearing a uniform called a gi.

jiu jitsu

The word "gi" means "clothes" in Japanese. In Brazilian jiu jitsu, a gi is the robe-style top and drawstring pants that make up the discipline's formal uniform. A jiu jitsu gi differs from gis (or kimonos) in other disciplines.

No-Gi Jiu Jitsu

No-gi jiu-jitsu is a variation of Brazilian jiu-jitsu (BJJ) that's practiced without the traditional gi uniform. In no-gi jiu-jitsu, competitors wear form-fitting athletic clothes like rash guards and board shorts, and are not allowed to grip their opponent's clothing.

Build confidence, coordination, & teamwork

Kids have access to so many activities these days. A common need in all of them is the power of confidence. With 2-4 days of jiu-jitsu a week, each child will have the ability to compete in jiu-jitsu or use the mindset to go into other activities or sports with more vigor and intensity. Jiu-Jitsu builds a "never give up" attitude. We have classes for ages 4-16.

Jiu-Jitsu Frequently Asked Question

What is Jiu-jitsu ?

Unlike other martial arts that focus on strikes and/or kicks, jiu jitsu focuses on close-contact “grappling” holds and techniques, and the application of chokes and joint-manipulations.

Or this content

Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is a martial art with a strong emphasis on grappling and ground work. Whereas other martial arts rely heavily on speed and strength, BJJ relies on leverage and proper technique to gain superior position on the ground where strikes or submission holds such as chokes and joint locks can then be used (if necessary).

Do I need any experience?

No former experience is necessary and all levels of fitness can enjoy learning BJJ. In our case,  we train as a team and all levels are welcome to train with us.  We encourage all our students to help develop other students, that way we get better as a whole.

Who can do Brazilian Jiu Jitsu…is it safe?

Yes, Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger assailant. As with any other sport or martial art accidents can and do happen. This is why safety is our number one concern! At 360 we take the necessary measures to provide a safe training environment for our members.

Can I get in good shape doing Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu?

Yes, the resistance provided during training can improve reaction time, balance, core strength, and increase flexibility which can lead to reduced body fat and weight loss. The aerobic and anaerobic benefits provided during training can be more effective than doing regular exercise at the gym.
